Kalaallit Nunaat

None of the authors are from Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland), but we all find it important to uplift and support our Inuit trans siblings as much as possible. Gender-affirming Healthcare

Public Healthcare

It is not possible to receive gender-affirming healthcare in Kalaallit Nunaat through the state healthcare. You can legally change your gender by changing your CPR number (as these are gendered in the Danish Commonwealth), but hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and surgeries are not available in Kalaallit Nunaat. It is our understanding that you must move abroad (for example to Denmark) to receive such care. Read more about receiving gender-affirming care via the Danish system here.

Private Healthcare

It is not 100% clear to us whether or not private gender-affirming healthcare in Kalaallit Nunaat is a real possibility. The two most well-known gender clinics that operate in Europe (Gender GP and Imago), cannot give out valid prescriptions for HRT in Kalaallit Nunaat, as it is outside of the EU. However, according to communication with Imago in November 2025, if you find a doctor willing and able to give out prescriptions in Kalaallit Nunaat, they will tell the doctor which hormones to prescribe and which dosage. Imago and the doctor would have to enter a shared care agreement. The authors know that this has worked for at least one person in the Faroe Islands, but we are unsure if this can directly translate to Kalaallit Nunaat.
