Support Groups

UPDATED 13-APR-2026

Here is a list of trans groups we know of. Feel free to email us at transparens.gay@protonmail.com with suggestions of trans (support) groups you feel would make sense for us to include.

We don't necessarily advocate for any of these groups or servers specifically. Some of them have problems with transmisogyny, racism, transmedicalism, or transphobia in general, but we want you to have the information and form your own opinions. Not all of them are trans-separatist or trans-specific.

LGBT+ Denmark Groups

LGBT+ Danmark Transgruppen - a volunteer-led group in Danish under LGBT+ Denmark. Meetings are Fridays in odd-numbered weeks and they start at 18:00, but usually you can show up earlier. It is at LGBT+ Denmark's headquarters in Copenhagen. They also have an unofficial Discord server that you can get access to by showing up. The meetings start with a round of names/pronouns and life updates. Usually questions arise during this, and they are written on a board. People then eat dinner together, and after eating there is a discussion about the questions that came up. Unfortunately they have said that they don't recommend it for non-Danish speaking people, and it may not feel comfortable for people of colour, as it is quite white.

T-gruppen - a social network by LGBT+ Denmark for people who are trans, intersex, or questioning their assigned gender at birth. It is a space for folks who want to communicate with like-minded people in a safe environment. It takes place in Aarhus every other Sunday (in even weeks) from 14:00 - 16:00.

TRANSIT - a structured group counselling offer in Danish from LGBT+ Denmark led by trans people. It is once a week for 8 weeks, and each week has its own theme, which you can read more about on their website. You have to sign up for it, and two trans counsellors run each group. Usually a group chat is made for the group you are in. There are two groups: one for 15-24 year olds, and one for 25+ year olds. It takes place in Copenhagen. Currently, it only takes place in Danish but if enough people write to them and express interest in an English-speaking group, maybe they would consider creating one.

Transitionstanker - a project in Copenhagen, Aarhus, or online for people 18+ by LGBT+ Denmark, that offers up to three 1 hour individual sessions with a "trans expert"1. The description says they give space to explore and put into words what is important to you in your transition. You can bring a support person with you. They keep things confidential, and don't share anything with CKI. As these are individual sessions, you should be able to let them know that you want your sessions in English.

Café Aura - a space for young LGBT+ people who are under 18, run by LGBT+ Danmark. Aura isn't trans specific, but you will still be able to meet other queer people, even if you don't specifically meet other trans people. Aura takes place in 12 different cities all over Denmark.

Miscellaneous

LGBT Asylum Drop-in - this is not really a support group, but more of a drop-in thing, and it's not trans-specific. It's centered around queer refugees and asylum seekers, but technically anybody can join. A variety of things could happen at this "group" because it depends on the needs of the people who show up. It could be for example skill sharing, or providing counselling/guidance on specific issues like family reunification or questions about the asylum process. However, it could also just be a hang out and/or playing board games if nobody has questions. It takes place at LGBT Asylum's new headquarters on Studiestræde Wednesday's from 17 - 20. It only happens if there's two volunteers who can host it, but it's pretty well-planned in advance.

FSTB - FSTB is an association that supports trans kids. They don't explicitly state that they have support groups, but they state that their network meetings are places where kids, youth, and their families can exchange experiences and meet others "in the same situation". Sometimes they also host online meetings or "safe spaces" with different themes. You can also contact them if you need advice about trans kids or youth. That takes place either over email or over the phone (+45 89 87 44 33) on Wednesdays between 19:30 - 21:30. They may prioritize the feelings of trans parents over trans children.

Institute of Trans Joy - this is a group of trans people who organize community dinners and other events for trans folks in different cities around Denmark. The community dinners are not support groups, but you can meet other trans people there.

Discord Servers

Trans Scandinavia - a Discord server for trans people in Scandinavia. It is quite active, and you can get answers and help with a lot of stuff in there. However discussions of how to obtain DIY HRT are not allowed due to worries that it could get the server shut down.2

The Pond's Discord Server - a Discord server for the trans-owned queer bookstore in Copenhagen. It's not a support group, but you can find other queer and trans people on there. Take note of the new "resources" channel!

Facebook Groups

We don't support Meta, but these groups may help you in some ways, such as finding community, events, and more.

Copenhagen QTAIBPOC - a group for QTIBIPOC3 with ties to Copenhagen.

Non-Binær Danmark/Non-Binary Denmark (The Non-Binary Alliance) - according to their Facebook description, "this group is dedicated to conversations, debates, and events about anything relevant to non-binary people (GenderQueer, Genderfluid, Agender, Neutrois, Bigender, and many others). It is a safe space where we can be ourselves and talk about what interests us."

Åbne Transpersoner i Danmark - a group aimed at sharing information to the world about being a trans person. Please note that this is a public Facebook group, so everyone can see the posts and the people inside the group. It is not exclusive to trans people, thus anyone can join.

LGBTQ+ Fællesskabet i Danmark - a group primarily catered to LGBTQ+ people living in Jylland, but all are welcome.

Queer Exchange DK - a big Facebook group where queers in Denmark look for roommates, sell things, ask for mutual aid, share events, look for people to join their band, and ask questions relating to queerness in Denmark.

  1. This is directly from the website and the authors are unsure what a "trans expert" is, but are guessing that it's not an actual trans person.

  2. An admin from the server stated that they hadn't had any problems from Discord with regards to DIY HRT but that "we have the rule as a better safe than sorry aspect". You could interpret this as an instance of obeying in advance with our oppressor's wishes. This self-censoring has a direct cost in how many people can go on HRT and how long they are forced onto an unwanted puberty or simply stuck in limbo, but the cost of allowing it is entirely speculative. Do we really want to hand over our freedom of speech to avoid a speculative problem? Additionally, if we believed this was a likely risk we could solve this problem by moving communities to social media that trans people controlled instead of one capital controls.

  3. that is if you are Black, Indigenous, or a person of colour who is also queer, trans, and/or intersex.
